you heard it here, folks. i am now up to 14* finished songs, which officially puts me over my self-imposed limit of 10-12 songs that i’d like for an album. its pretty exciting, really — that i’m finally over the limit and already have a few more than i need.
this of course is not counting all the masses of halves and fragments of songs which are all just waiting to be finished before the end of the year. hopefully.
also the term “finished” means the words and chords are pretty much finalized, not necessarily the feel or arrangement of the song musically. i don’t know why you would care about that particular factoid but there it is.

*bethany’s song is, obviously, the song i wrote for her when we got engaged. there has been talk of including it as a bonus track (which would not count toward the number of songs i want and would be extra) but there has been no final decision made on that yet.
