i basically retracked everything i’d done in ‘king forever’ today. sometimes the obsessive perfectionism that i have with this stuff drives me nuts. to be sure it sounds better now…but probably not enough for anyone but me to notice.

also had a first try at tracking vocals today. i did 3 takes and they all sound pretty good considering my inexperience with it. its kinda frustrating not to know all the ins and outs of how to make everything sound the best it could (like all the tricks the studio monkeys know) but i was pretty satisfied. i generally always add a little bit of reverb, but then today i was also trying to EQ my voice also to give it a little better presence.

all in all i was fairly satisfied but i wasn’t knocked over about it; which was a little bit depressing. but then later when bethany heard it she reminded me that this is the song we’ve both heard the most; we’ve both done it with a band many times now and so really it doesn’t sound a whole lot different than that as a whole. so it will be more interesting when i take a song we haven’t done live yet and work on that….so i’m looking forward to the next song now. but there’s still a few more things i want to add to this one before i’ll call it ‘worthy of letting people hear it.’ man, that part will be tough for sure.
