it would still sound like a cow; only it would be a really loud, bassy, awesome cow.
i got to play at a college conference in gatlinburg tennessee this past weekend and it was the most pro sound setup i’ve ever played on. i played at some kind of festival in downtown douglasville georgia once also, but their equipment didn’t seem quite as good as the stuff here. maybe the difference between indoors and outdoors, who knows.
the guys who ran the setup were really friendly and they made us sound great. i’d played with most of the band guys before, but some i hadn’t, and we lived all over the place so basically had to come together and practice for like a day and a half before the conference. it was stressful but it came together quite well.
anyway stuff sounds loads better on a nice system like that. it was quite a treat to play there. i played ‘king forever’ there and what little response there was seemed to be okay. they must have liked us because we got invited back to do it again next year.
my voice hasn’t often been subjected to that amount of stress between all the practicing and singing we did from thursday to sunday…so it got kinda hoarse in there a few times. i think i should start looking into how to treat my voice the best in those situations…vocal warmups and stuff like that. i have a few friends who are voice coaches so i’m going to ask them what their advice is for the future.
anyway we head to mexico tomorrow and are going to play a little bit down there too so i hope my voice is back up to snuff by wednesday or so.
then when i’m back hopefully after a few more work projects get finished i can get back into recording again. also i really would like to write some more but haven’t had the inspiration hit hard yet. so maybe some of that can happen too.
here’s a picture for you from gatlinburg. i’m the white glow in the middle.
** as you can see i added a ‘playing live’ category on the right there; that way it will be easier for you to keep track of my thoughts when i play some of this stuff live. **
