my dad needed a wisdom tooth pulled so i took him to the dentist cause i hear you’re kinda out of it when you’re done and might need someone to drive you home. so here i sit in the surgeon’s office. i was going to do work but i have no internet and didn’t think to print off what i needed to do from my email. so…..time to work on some drums!

i went ahead and finalized and exported the drums for ‘cannot escape’ and ‘glory to your name’, so those two are ready to start building. also i went and redid the drums for ‘nothing else’ which needed some work; that was the one with the great rim shot sound but i kept it through the whole song and it ended up not being punchy enough. so i fixed that stuff and got it exported too, so its ready to go as well. need to retrack the acoustic in that song also; i don’t really know what i was thinking the first time….no dynamics at all.

also worked out a drum idea i had for adding drums to ‘bethany’s song’. i love how it came out so far and how it sounds in my head with the instruments….i have some great ideas. has a little bit of a country feel.

then i messed with some synth sounds for ‘questions’. that’s the one that’s hopefully gonna have the creepy toy piano in it. (i’m making such a big deal out of the piano…watch it doesn’t end up being half as cool as i think it will. or worse that it won’t fit at all. anyway i don’t think that song will have any percussion to speak of; i’m thinking it will just be acoustic and possibly have some ambient sounds in the back of it….some kinda noise i think is what will work. so i found a couple that might be okay and saved them in there for later.

i’d really like to do a song with a conga type sound in it….but i’m not sure what song that would fit with. …not really sure why i brought that up.

also this week i am hoping to borrow a different dynamic mic from the church and try that out on the acoustic to see how it sounds instead of my large diaphragm one. i just have to remember to get it.

also been thinking about the new song (the death one) and how i might go about recording that one. i think i’ll just do it acoustic initially and see how that feels. it seems right given its context so we’ll see how that turns out.
