not a ton to report: redid the acoustic part for you are never really gone, cut out the first chorus in questions (but haven’t smoothed over the cut yet), redid the piano for not the end, and actually reorganized all my files onto the hard drive. half of them were on the computer, half on the hard drive, so that is all in one place now.
also got bethany to remind me about her advice for fixing we live‘s bridge, and i successfully (i think) rewrote it today. it seems to be much, much better — much less repetitive, and more interesting. just have to work out the nuances of the melody there and i should be all set with that one. will let you know how i like it more when i start working through the whole song on the acoustic.
a friend of mine also used a rough version of bring it back in a video for a mission trip they did with their church. it (along with some other things) has made me think about reworking that song’s feel. even when i got most of the rough version done even basic, scaled down drums and bass seemed like too much for the song. now i hear fingerpicking, light shaker and, ideally, strings.
garage band’s newest version shows good recording promise…..since i had to start over with you are never really gone and it’s a simple song anyway it was a good chance to try it start to finish in garageband instead of moving. not totally sure how it will come out yet but i am optimistic….
